Plum Village built the Plum Village Songs app as a Free app. This SERVICE is provided by Plum Village at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service.

If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that we collect is used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which is accessible at Plum Village Songs unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

For a better experience, while using our Service, we may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information. The information that we request will be retained by us and used as described in this privacy policy.

The app does use third party services that may collect information used to identify you.

The app has no user accounts and no sign-in. We do not ask for, and do not collect, your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or precise location.

Everything you create while using the app — your notebooks, notes, favourites, display and chord settings, and any song sheets (PDF) or audio files you download for offline use — is stored only on your own device. It is not uploaded to us and we hold no copy of it.

Log Data

We want to inform you that whenever you use our Service, in a case of an error in the app we collect data and information (through third party products) on your phone called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our Service, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics.

When the app downloads song data, song sheets or audio from our servers, that request is also recorded in our hosting provider’s server logs (IP address, timestamp, the file requested, and the app version).

Cookies

Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device’s internal memory.

This Service does not use these “cookies” explicitly. However, the app may use third party code and libraries that use “cookies” to collect information and improve their services. You have the option to either accept or refuse these cookies and know when a cookie is being sent to your device. If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of this Service.

Service Providers

We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:

  • To facilitate our Service;
  • To provide the Service on our behalf;
  • To perform Service-related services; or
  • To assist us in analyzing how our Service is used.

We want to inform users of this Service that these third parties have access to their Personal Information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.

Security

We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Data Retention

We keep as little data as possible, and only for as long as it is needed.

Data stored on your device. Your notebooks, notes, favourites, app settings, and any song sheets or audio you have downloaded remain on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. They are deleted when you remove them in the app, clear the app’s storage, or uninstall the app. We never receive this data, so there is nothing for us to retain.

Analytics and performance data. Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Performance Monitoring collect a randomly generated app-instance identifier, device model, operating system version, app version, language, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and in-app events such as which song was opened. Because the app has no sign-in, this data is not linked to your name, email address, or any account. It is retained for a maximum of 14 months from the date of collection, after which it is deleted automatically. Aggregated statistics that can no longer be linked to any device or person (for example, the total number of times a song has been opened) may be kept for longer.

Server logs. The server logs described under “Log Data” are kept for no longer than 90 days for security and troubleshooting purposes, and are then deleted.

We do not sell or rent any of this data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.

Data Deletion and Your Choices

You can delete the data held on your device yourself, at any time, without contacting us:

  • To delete individual items, remove the notebook, note, favourite, or downloaded file inside the app.
  • On Android, to delete everything at once: Settings → Apps → Plum Village Songs → Storage → Clear storage. This resets the app to a fresh state. Uninstalling the app also removes this data.
  • On iOS, to delete everything at once: delete (uninstall) the app. This removes all data the app has stored on your device.

To have the analytics and performance data associated with your installation of the app deleted, email us at pvsongs@plumvillage.org with the subject line “Data deletion request”. Because the app has no accounts, please include your device model, operating system version, and roughly when you installed the app, so that we are able to locate the relevant records. We will confirm receipt of your request and complete the deletion within 30 days. You do not need to give a reason, and we will never require you to create an account in order to make a request.

You can also stop any further collection of analytics and performance data at any time by uninstalling the app.

Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. The app has no sign-in and does not ask any user for personal details. If you are a parent or guardian and you believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at pvsongs@plumvillage.org so that we can take the necessary action.

This Service may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. Changes are effective from the date shown at the top of this page.
